at this point, I was pretty stuck on how to create the switch visible in the corner with the big curve of ice cream spoons. And on the corner up from that curve, I had a small track that needed to get back inside the main structure, somehow past that path of ice cream spoons.

I decided it would be cool to squeeze a small marble track under the spoon bridge, and loop back across, temporarily sharing the same track: an unmonitored same level crossing. The two toothpicks sticking out on one corner are pointing to where the crossing will occur. But the problem remained: how to squeeze the small marbles under the spoon bridge. It appeared too tight to make it work. What to do?

I temporarily removed a path for the large marbles because it was blocking access to the complicated small-marbles-under-spoon-bridge.

I had an inspiration of how to solve the problem: cut the spoon bridge and let big marbles roll on two rails for that section. The small marble can roll under the rails given a bit more room, and the big marbles will still roll at basically the same height as before.

The crossover is finished, and even figured out a cool way to do a double crossing at the intersection: the four toothpicks guide the small marbles the right direction after they roll in on the long coffee stirrer. But, the super-difficult switch remains elusively unfinished.
